27 October 2022:

We were invited by Mr Bhoopal Reddy garu (IAS), Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, for a meeting with Mr Krishna Prasad, Regional Director, NHAI, and Mr Rakesh Mohan Dobriyal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana. We were given a patient hearing and could say everything we ever wanted to say from our views on translocation to leaving Mudimiyal forest as is, to declaring the Hyderabad-Vikarabad road as a heritage road.

Mr Bhoopal Reddy was very receptive and understood that the banyans, the grasslands, and the entire ecosystem need protection. He said, "No one would touch trees and all the creatures that live on them if they had voting rights. Just because they don't, we cannot do what we like." He was very clear about translocation also, and said it was as horrible as amputating parts of a human body.
Mr Reddy told NHAI and the PCCF that while the highway had to be made, they should retain as many trees as they can on the median, and be judicious with translocation. He also told them to involve our group in the process.
The open recognition/acknowledgement of all that we accomplished in the presence of the RD of NHAI and the PCCF was an important moment for our campaign. We hope they will be open to collaboration and ideas in the future, as promised in the meeting.
Our sincere thanks for this gesture on the part of the government. Special thanks to Dr KV Ramana Chary (IAS) garu for enabling the appointment, and to Ms Rebecca Mathai, Additional Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General - member of Nature Lovers of Hyderabad, and well wisher - for her consistent support.
